Clinical Benefits of Valeda Light Therapy

  • Better Contrast Sensitivity. Many patients notice sharper, clearer vision, which can make everyday tasks like reading or recognizing faces easier.
  • Improved Central Vision. Valeda may help stabilize or even enhance central vision, supporting activities such as driving and reading.
  • Slower Disease Progression. By reducing inflammation and oxidative stress, the treatment helps protect retinal cells and may slow further vision loss.
  • Quick and Non-Invasive. The procedure is done in the office, is painless, and doesn’t require any recovery time or injections.
  • Supports Retinal Cell Health. PBM helps the cells in your retina function better by boosting mitochondrial activity and encouraging tissue repair.

THOROUGH, EFFICIENT, AND KIND

The office staff were all very warm and Dr. Hogue was excellent - thorough, efficient, and kind. I called with a question just after the office closed, and he called me back to discuss my concern and tell me what to do even though he’d left the office for the day. Would absolutely recommend!

A GREAT DOCTOR

When I first walked in I went ‘wow’ lots of clients here! However the process was so streamlined and the staff were all amazing in making sure I felt comfortable with my annual checkup. Dr. James Klancnik is a great doctor who really listens to you too. I give a five star rating to VRMNY!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Valeda Light Therapy and how does it work?

Valeda Light Therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate cellular activity in the retina. This helps preserve vision and slow the progression of retinal diseases such as dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The treatment is non-invasive, painless, and performed quickly in-office — no injections or surgery required.

Treatment Details

  • Patients sit comfortably while the Valeda Light Therapy device delivers targeted light to the retina.
  • A typical course includes 9 sessions over 3–4 weeks.
  • No anesthesia or recovery time is needed.
  • The Valeda Treatment is safe and well-tolerated.

Who is eligible for Valeda Eye Treatment?

The FDA has authorized Valeda for individuals with early to intermediate dry AMD, typically those with vision between 20/30 and 20/100. It is not approved for wet AMD, which requires eye injections. Clinical studies are ongoing to explore its effectiveness in other forms of AMD.

Can Valeda Light Therapy help with advanced AMD or vision loss?

People with geographic atrophy, an advanced form of dry AMD, may still experience some benefit if their central vision is not completely damaged. However, Valeda Light Therapy cannot reverse existing vision loss — it primarily aims to preserve and protect remaining vision.
